THE SECRET GARDEN
Author: Frances Hodgson Burnett
Publication date: August 1911
Genre: Children's novel
The Secret Garden is a children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, published in 1911, which revolves around a orphan girl, Mary Lennox
the story begins in India, where she lived with her parents, those who never cares about her, thanks to this neglected treatment she gets ill and become a gross and selfish person.
Then a illness reaches India and ends killing Mary's parents and servants, that is why Mary have to move to Yorkshire, England, with her uncle,Sr. Archibald Craven, in a big, boring and isolated house, where her adventure begins.
Of course with the time she discovers the secret garden, with some help of the robin, but she realized that all in the walled garden is dead, but with the help of Dickon, she gives life back to this.
In the process we also know Mr. Craven's son who, like Mary, is a stubborn and rude child, this is the moment in which Mary discovers the true importance of being kind to other people.
I personally think that history is a metaphor to show that we can face our own problems and change our reality, this is how it shows three completely different children who discover a place which gives them the opportunity to have a personal change, changing their lives forever
